What is ittly?
ittly is a free URL shortener based in Germany. Our service lets you turn long, unwieldy web addresses into short, shareable links. You also get QR codes and click statistics.
Is ittly really free?
Yes, the core features are completely free. The free version includes ads. With a Premium subscription for €5 per month, you get ad-free links and additional features.
How does ittly protect my data?
We take data protection seriously. IP addresses are anonymised so that no individual person can be identified. Our servers are located in Germany and we comply with the GDPR.
Can I use custom short codes?
Yes. Registered users can choose their own short code when creating a link, as long as it hasn't been taken yet. For example, you could create ittly.de/my-offer.
How does the redirect work with ittly?
When someone opens an ittly short link, the system looks up the stored short code and redirects the visitor to the original URL. Free users see a brief interstitial page before the redirect; Premium users are forwarded instantly with no waiting time. The redirect itself typically takes just milliseconds.
How can I use the QR code for my short link?
Every short link you create with ittly automatically comes with a QR code. You can download it, print it or share it digitally straight after shortening. QR codes are ideal for business cards, flyers, posters, presentations and any printed material where typing a URL is impractical. Scanning the code takes visitors to exactly the same destination as the short link.
Can I set an expiry date for my short link?
Yes. Registered users can optionally set an expiry date when creating a link. After that date the short link is deactivated and visitors see a corresponding message. This is useful for limited-time offers, events or promotional codes.
What statistics does ittly provide?
ittly records the total number of clicks per short link, the time of each click and the visitor's country of origin based on anonymised IP data. The full IP address is never stored — only the first three octets are used to determine the country. This gives you meaningful analytics without processing personal data.
Can I protect a link with a password?
Yes. Registered users can enable optional password protection when creating a short link. Visitors who open the link are asked for the password before being redirected. This feature is useful for securely sharing internal documents or confidential resources.
Does ittly offer an API?
A public REST API for ittly is in development. It will allow developers to create links programmatically, retrieve statistics and generate QR codes. If you are interested in early access, please get in touch at info@ittly.link.
Where are ittly's servers located?
All ittly servers are located exclusively in Germany. No data is transferred to countries outside the European Union. This is a key aspect of ittly's GDPR compliance: your data is subject to German and European data protection law at all times.
Can I delete my short links and data?
Yes. Registered users can delete any of their short links at any time from the dashboard. Deleted links no longer redirect visitors and are permanently deactivated. To delete your account and all stored data, contact info@ittly.link — your request will be processed in accordance with GDPR as quickly as possible.
